The Making of a Reading Salon

A lot of little things led to the inception of Lady Jane’s Salon – Naperville. The first kernel developed while attending a national writing conference in New York in June 2011.

Tracey Devlyn invited Adrienne Giordano and a few of their friends to join her for an all-star reading at the original Lady Jane’s Salon® in Manhattan. The salon’s ambience, the generosity of the authors, and the enthusiasm of the readers led to a wonderful, unforgettable experience. Founded in February 2009 by romance authors Hope Tarr, Maya Rodale, Leanna Renee Hieber, and  book blogger, Ron Hogan, Lady Jane’s Salon® (www.LadyJaneSalonNYC.com) is New York City’s first–and still only–monthly romance fiction reading series, now in its sixth year with satellites in eight other US cities. All satellites donate their net cash proceeds to a 501c(3) charity of their choice. (The original NYC Salon supports Win, formerly Women in Need.

The second kernel formed after Adrienne and Tracey attended a book signing at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, where Le Chocolat du Bouchard was serving yummy chocolate morsels. One of our friends mentioned in passing that Le Chocolat had a cozy upstairs that would be perfect for our chapter meetings.

Fast forward twelve hours later…Adrienne sends Tracey a “Got an idea to run by you” email. After a flurry of emails and a meeting with the Le Chocolat folks, Lady Jane’s Salon – Naperville became a living, breathing, exciting new adventure.

We hope you come join us at the Salon, either as a fan of romance or as an author of romance. You are guaranteed an experience of a lifetime, where you’ll make new friends, hear your favorite authors read their stories, and indulge in a scrumptious bit of chocolate.

All our best,
Adrienne and Tracey
